Tulsi Vivah

Tulsi VIvah is a significant Hindi festival that celebrates marriage ceremony of the sacred holy basic, known as Tulsi to the Lord Vishnu or with Lord Vishnu's reincarnation Shaligram, this sacred tradition makes a beginning of the marriage season in Hindu culture which shows it's deep spiritual importance.

Rituals and Ceremonies:

• Preparation:- A small mandap is set up and Tulsi plant is decorated with colorful clothes and jewelry and also people put red sindoor which symbolizes a bride.
• Wedding Ceremony:- Household members performs a puja which indicates marriage of then has took place reciting traditional Vedic mantras and invoking blessings.
• Offering and Aarti:- Devotees offers sweets, flowers and other marital items (which symbolizes a married women's gesture) to Tulsi and Lord Vishnu followed by a aarti.

Tulsi Vivah Story:
The festival is based on the legend of Vrinda, who is a devoted wife of the demon king Jalandhar, According to some myth, there was a saying that ones her loyalty were tested by lord Vishnu when he disguised himself as Jalandhar to defeat him, after Jalandhar's defeat, Vrinda was angry with lord Vishnu, but later, he married her in the form of tulsi plant and give her blessings of being his wife in her next incarnation.
